I am trying to remember some important information about being anonymous and why I am avoiding telling my story to the general public. I am also monitoring my blood pressure and blood sugar closely for my doctor, The news is not good. Both are too high and if I don't get the sugar levels under control I'm likely to need a daily shot of medication. I am switching off of coffee and going over to green tea and trying to develop a taste for it unsweetened. Also, they make a green chia tea that I want to try.

I'm sitting in bed listening to music while watching a mournful sky rain on the valley. I wasn't able to sleep last night so I'm trying to deal with this level of tiredness both physically and emotionally. I just took another round of meds and hope it provides some relief, maybe a few hours of sleep. I'm also watching colitas rising up through the air.

I need to eat and take meds.

Hi @Lionheart777 - Has your doctor offered to set you up with a nutritionist? He/she can assist you with what to include/exclude or to limit in your daily diet, and/or offer you a meal plan to assist with sugar/insulin response and blood pressure. Alternately, there are many good books at the library and online to help in this regard. What you eat matters, especially with regard to blood sugar and blood pressure issues.

Also, I know you have some limiting health conditions, but would it possible for you to do water aerobics or some sort of movement class at the Y or another facility with a pool?

^Yay - you go @Lionheart777 - right behind you with eliminating sugar and getting fitter.

The more you know about food the better.

The closer food is to its original form ie whole food - the healthier it will be. So avoid processed foods.
Avoid 'reduced fat' foods bc they're usually full of sugar to make them taste nice. So have small portions of natural full fat foods. Put your food onto smaller plates.. amazing how that helps. And yes exercise - start gentle but make it a daily thing.

I hope you can get ahead of the high bp and sugar. Thinking of you.
 
I'm sitting here on my laptop, in my pj's trying to ignore the wind as it roar's outside.Really weird & unpleasant sound.
I've got the tv on to our broadcaster listening to all of the weather alerts around me. ugh... Code red/catastrophic
The trees are bending over all around. How do they stay standing??
Staying inside with all the doors & windows shut but my eyes are stinging from smoke and dust ...sigh...
Answering texts from my children - am I ok? - Where will I go if I need to? Idk.. wait to get told..??
I swear it's getting louder and worse by the minute right now.. better go and get into some day clothes just in case.

You need to have a plan, its important. I would temporarily stay with one of your children right now. Is that possible? Can you fly?
 
Well, I'm sitting here with short stack. We adopted a kitten from the shelter and she was spayed so, she has that hood on. My other cat keeps batting at that hood, short stack is wearing. I think she is scared of the hood.. Meanwhile, short stack is scared of her.

If I've already said this, I apologize. This is what I come home to, every ?. The hood is coming off in a day. Yay!

My plan is to leave when they say or when I get too scared.

I've had no power for a several hours now so I've been getting emergency updates via my mobile phone.

I decided to go to the library... the place to go when nowhere else seems ok?? lol..

When I got there I was with a lot of company. It's not around any bushland. So I waited there for several hours listening to updates.

I've just arrived home and the thunderstorms are coming through. No rain, just thunder and lightning. It's still really hot. I've done virtually nothing all day :wtf: except worry about fires/wind/heat and damage to me and my house.

Tomorrow I'll kick some new goals regarding my to do list... :cautious:

Hey there, @Lionheart777 ...I gave up coffee and use roasted dandelion root tea instead. I sweeten it with a spoonful of blackstrap molasses, and sometimes a couple drops of liquid stevia. I often use dates (can make a date paste by blending dates and water), liquid stevia, monk fruit sweetener, or coconut sugar. It doesn't take nearly as much, either, as all of that tastes a lot sweeter to my taste buds than the other sugar did.

The carbs and starches are the things that tripped me up, as they are definitely a few of my favorite things. I found the following article to be a good starting point in learning healthier options (then I jumped into many rabbit holes to learn more):
