Back in country on a new contract. Business as usual; ragtag bunch of misfits from all over, put together to do 'special jobs'.

So far, I'm first guy here, so I'm waiting around on the base, getting lots of funny looks. I'm not excatly low visibility, I suppose: from bottom to top, I'm wearing a wrecked pair of black trainers, a pair of faded multicam trousers of an after-market type preferred by foreigners, a British-issue 'Norwegian' thermal top from the '90s, an old USAF A2 flying jacket that is on its very, very last legs and a green baseball cap with a Jolly Roger patch velcroed to the front.

I do actually have a full set of the local uniform back home, but it seemed unwise to travel in it and I only took one bag which was full of books. Also, I'm rather enjoying being a bit of a mystery for a few days.

It is freezing here this morning. I am shivering in bed in the caravan. Since Cyclone Alfred and the house next door burning down. It's been a challenge.

One of the highest statutory bodies has emailed for all the records from the Insurance Company claims.

They very rarely pick up a case.

This is the space of policy reviews and changes.

It's the silver lining at least this will be noted and perhaps some other folks don't suffer what we have undergone.

Hopefully this means that this is seen by the top brass and the Insurance Company is not allowed to send out unqualified, aggressive, poorly trained and unprofessional tradies in the future.

Any way in the end the Insurance Company has more resources. I wish I had known this outcome as I wouldn't have put in so much time documenting and putting in complaints.

The Insurance Company saga continues.

I wrote a solid response this morning.

I wept a couple of times and did a good job.

It will be so good when this is over.

The amount of paper work is a bit ridiculous @anthony and the Insurance Company doesn't address it, so I wish that I have could have gone straight to disputes and external government. I only just learnt that I could escaped a little sooner. Unfortunately you had to have gone through the Insurance Company's complaints process. So there was no way around it. And it was a woeful.

The statutory bodies have been useful. They take on very few cases, so it is more that it is recorded so the trend over all is seen by the Insurance Compliance Committee.

Then there is another process I am not sure what all the outcomes will be. It was extremely stressful writing it all up though.

Though the Insurance Company offered a cash settlement for the doctored photo tree issue pretty quickly after that.

The Insurance Company offered half/third of what it would cost to fix the laundry. So I got other quotes. (They wanted the taps and a couple of things removed from that quote). So done that. But now it will be a reasonable amount of money to fix the laundry.

I don't know how it will turn out with the Government people. One was severely overworked but provided a great resource and wrote up my complaint so succinctly. That was very useful. The other woman who I spoke to was solidly trauma informed and respectful. I appreciated her. That was impressive.

The only problem is they have so many complaints there is a lot of substantial delays and wait times.

The problem of the abusive tradie triggered me so significantly. I never thought my PTSD could get so exponentially worse. That whole situation was not addressed appropriately. I did put in extensive written complaints.

The lying about the house hold contents smoke/mould damage is very, very poor. Everyone needs to photograph and document everything. Usually I would do that but with the Cyclone and house next door burning down I was a bit discombobulated. The assessors were not honest. The woman literally said to the guy we don't have to help them with the smoke damage because we didn't help with X.

Their bottom line is to make money for the shareholders. I think in the long run they would save a lot of money just by having an on the ball site manager with competent tradies.

I am not doing well. But I complained in away which will hopefully assist others a little. And I stood up for myself as well.

I did get stuck in trauma loops and it triggered my childhood trauma. I snapped twice on two different occasions to two Insurance Company employees. I did apologise immediately though.
