I sometimes do lists for things like birthdays and christmas but that is all.

I don't do lists for shopping as it's my aim to get in and get out as fast as I can.
Half the time I don't even know what I've got but as long as it's enough to keep us going my job is done.

As of now, yes I do. It originally was an assignment from my therapist. I make lists so that I can prioritize and also to remember to take breaks from tasks, it gives me a chance to move on to a different one so I don't focus on one thing too long.

I run my life like a military excercise. Lists, routines etc etc... I even make a list of what we eat for dinner every week. I hoard stuff as well just in case it runs out, but my house is very clean. Everything in cupboards is orderly. Tins all lined up. Calender with appointments. I have to make lists. My memory can sometimes give in and I forget. I like the order in the chaos of the world we live in.

Constantly. I even bought a white board especially for it that I had to move into the living room so I could see my list more often. I also make paper lists all the time as well, but this one is my master list of sorts, I guess.

OMG! Do I ever make lists!! LOL!

I have been a "List Maker" for many years. Keeping track of the various lists got to be extremely daunting in itself. I finally had to get myself a binder with lists sorted by subject, like "Things To Remember" (for when someone told me a good joke, or I found a recipe for a cleaning product, or that email that floats around every so often about all the uses for hydrogen peroxide, etc), or lists of "Important Dates" (like 1st through 4 marriages, and first 3 divorces), the deaths of my father and step dad and what they died of, and when my grandson goes on field trips at school.

Then there's the list of my medical conditions, what meds I've tried, and what drs I've seen, that I have to keep up for SSDI.

And, of course, the Ever Present "To Do" lists. Had to eventually break down the "To Do" list into "To Do Today", "To Do Next Week", To Do By Christmas", etc, etc. I'm like others on this poll, crossing off even simple things gives me a sense of satisfaction.

So, yes, I do lists; been told by some that I'm too obsessed. My therapist says my list-making is one way I developed, at a young age, to cope with the chaos, since I couldn't control when my father was gonna get angry and beat me.

Thanks for this poll, it is great!!!

Bless you all!

How did you go about getting SSDI? I"m on unemployment.

I never used to but am useless trying to remember more than three things now- whatever it is. Bills to pay, shopping to do or things to talk about at therapy. Even then if I get distracted, forget it, nothing will get accomplished!

If it weren't for my lists I swear I'd lose my freaking mind. I write lists for everything...to do lists, shopping lists, packing lists, I even have a list full of lists i need to write :) How pathetic am i :/

I started REALLY making lists about year or so ago.... I couldn't keep track of anything, and now I just can't remember anything. I have to leave myself little notes by the coffee maker to remind myself to do things in the AM so I don't forget before I leave the house...

note for tomorrow AM.... take a coat hanger and wire-up my exhaust on my truck until I can get to a mechanic...

should be a no-brainer, but I'll get in a hurry and anxious about all the things I need to do tomorrow and I'll leave without taking care of it, and remember 15 miles from home...

Yes, I know I sure write list after list. Post-it's are my best friend!
After reading this, I better understand now why my nick-name was/is the "Ditzy Blonde Gold Fish"

I've done countless things in error because of the lack of memory I possess, sometimes to the point where it makes me question my own capabilities, to say the least.

No idea where my housekeeper put a certain business card I need. I wish she would put things back where she found them. I need the card to call the head office to make next week's apts with the wound care clinic. I will be going to the clinic again on Monday so I will write it down. And so I won't forget to take it with me. I found a great place to put it. Inside the special stocking I have on. It will probably make the nurse laugh though.

My phone is full of lists, unfortunately my mind works in overdrive permanantly so i have to make notes on my phone before i frget things. Alot of the time things never get done though as even with lists i have that many stored that its impossible to keep up with them. May sound daft but even with list i avoid things.
