@ladee, I have to keep you updated on tiny ladee. She is in a separate brooder with the chick who has a bad leg. They are both 1 week and 3 days old. I went out this morning and Ladee was helping Nubs remove the splint on her legs. Ladee knows this makes Nubs so unhappy. When they are able to get it off overnight, Nubs can't move, so Ladee feeds her like a mother bird! I was astonished since I haven't seen that behavior in chickens. She is a kind, empathetic soul like her namesake! I hope to breed her, because I want to breed chickens with great personalities.

Ohhhh how absolutely beautiful !!! I have never heard of chickens feeding like birds either... and thank you from my heart for such a beautiful compliment... it pays to ask sometimes doesn't it.. To have one of your babies named after me and her being such a loving good girl, just puts me over the moon !!!
And yes, she will have personality... and a special thread for updates... how cool is this.... thank you @DharmaGirl !!! Give her kisses from Aunt Ladee.... this is so special, makes me teary eyed, in the best possible way.... lots of hugs to you and all your babies and mama's....

Little ladee likes to hang out in the food bowl, in case Nubs needs help. I reached down to pick up Nubs and check her splint, and Ladee, hearing her peep in her loud voice, came running over to peck me with her tiny beak. She had no fear of protecting her friend from the giant!

Look how big she is for 2 weeks old. And she has lots of feathers!

So sorry I have missed some posts... little girl is growing !!! And how is Nubs?? Those little legs getting stronger??

It doesn't surprise me she pecked you if she thought you were hurting Nubs... fiercely loyal and a caregiver at heart...

Everyone thinks it is so awesome I have a baby Brahmas named after me. Thank you for the pictures...

She is truly beautiful with her new little feathers.... this is so exciting to me... give her kisses on her little head if she will let you!!

I think Nubs might be a boy, and since the leg thing is not genetic, I can breed them if I want. We'll see how Nubs does. His little leg is no longer stuck out to the side, but he won't use it. I'm not going to take the splint off to see if he's ok, since it is a good one. Ladee lets me pick her up and cuddle her, as long as I pick up Nubs too. They are best friends.
