Stuffed Animal?

My daughter built me a bear at the mall. He's cute as a button and is dressed in red flannel pajamas. He keeps me moving when I'm digesting flashbacks. My live dog is my major animal. She's ten pounds and loves to snuggle. I couldn't sleep without her.

hmm well anyone looking for one... build a bear does have online ordering , and is fairly reasonable in price and they have different countries on the website... pretty durable too. I had to google does build a bear ship to other countries in order to get to the area you can select a country.

@Kefira,

The funny thing is that if you looked at my two stuffed animals, you'd say no way they have the same kind of fur! They don't look alike at all, but somehow I was able to tell that they new one was exactly like the old one. Yeah, that's just how matted the older one is... At least they enjoy a good tumble in the washer and dryer, lol.

I have a stuffed Nala from the Lion King. I sleep with her every night, she gies on vacation with me. Don't care who knows. My puppy chewed off the flower I her head but I still love her... And my puppy lol.

I was one of those girls growing up that wanted every stuffed animal she saw. I never had dolls or barbies, but lots of stuffed animals that I played with. In middle school I got a big stuffed frog (about a foot long). His toes are perfect because I can lace my fingers between them, and he is large enough to really have something to wrap my arms around.

I'm 25 and he still goes with me everywhere, I do not spend a night without him (even before PTSD). We joke about how he has been to more countries and states than most people. I have never been embarrassed about him, and get lots of compliments. I've also used him to help comfort little kids.

There is no downside to giving it a try. I highly recommend an animal where you can lace your fingers of something like that. It is very comforting, at least to me.

Good luck!!!

I have a pink dog, a floppy dog, and just added Mickey and Minnie, given to me by a nursing buddy who lives in Orlando. I am not in therapy (maybe I should be :D) and I am not PTSD. And I am just the other side of middle aged. If you want a stuffed animal, knock yourself out! They don't require feeding, they don't shed, they don't care if you roll on top of them at night. They don't burp and they don't fumigate your room either from the other end. Once in a while we all need something soft and squishy to hug.

Yep one of the most healing things i did for myself was a totally unplanned trip to Toys R Us after leaving a therapy session quite dissociated. I bought myself a bear. I also have a very small sheep that fits in my purse. It seemed kinda of crazy or odd at the time. I didnt grow up with much comfort so I wasnt so sure about it and i kind of felt stupid. Two weeks of sleeping with that bear and feeling so much better...I didn't care if it was silly.....it was working!

I have a blanket made from skinned stuffed animals? Does that count?

Wuuuuuuv. :inlove: Pure love. Really. I've tried to find a replacement online, but this thing is heavy. Queen size it weighs just under 40lbs. 2 inches of thick fur on either side. If I wear it like a cape (hush) it keeps me warm in sub zero temps for hours. (I used to smoke outside, in winter, while working on computer stuff). It's almost as good as sleeping with another person. It's like sleeping wrapped up in a particularly snuggly werewolf. Or polar bear on Valium.

I've found similar things online, but they only weight apx 15lbs. This leads me to believe that their furriness is substandard :shifty::cautious: Which shall not be tolerated.

It's from Korea. A looooong time ago. I'm still hunting for more.

As far as stuffed animals... I have kids, so I have tons. Including a stuffed wombat, tiger, & bear from my childhood; we've got a whole menagerie of friends (dragons, & tree frogs, & monsters oh my) that I've given accents to over the years. Except for the ones that don't talk. Not all animals talk. And that's okay. Some just feel stuff at you.

But the blanket is mine. Back away. I don't share ;).
Really. I wink, but I'm serious. It's mine.

My family is huge on stuffed animals. My parents have them around their house. My husband has some. I have some. I sleep with one and I wouldn't tell most people I know that, but my husband knows and doesn't make fun of me. My husband and I built a bead together when we were dating and we used to travel with it (we lived in different states). I have been in various houses where there are "decorative" stuffed animals, but who's to say they aren't snuggling them when they're alone. I think it's a great idea for you to get one.
