and the k9/working dog vest with the webbing for attaching packs looks more badass and I have noticed that when the dog is wearing a vest more like that it at least appears that people are less likely to try and pet them.

I agree Holden. I was looking more for function than anything else. Something where I could add a pack etc and adequate grab handles to assist Dog into the truck. Here is an image. No my Dog. I had to order extenders as my dog was much bigger than pictured in the picture.

I also ordered some reflective patches to go on the side for night time. I was going more for function than Service Dog look.

UPDATE

Dog is doing great. Been going to work with me now on a daily basis. Training has improved vastly over the past few weeks. I think mainly because I am with him daily. He senses what his job is and carries it out 100%. Still a lot of pup left in him as he just turned one year old. As for his training, he's able to heal without lead as well as most other basic obedience. For fun, we have learned the "patrol" command. This is where he conducts a sweep of the area in which I point to and returns to heal when all is clear.

It's my understanding that in order for him to pass as a true "service dog" he has to perform a specific task. I will mock a panic attack and he'll hop on my lap or try to distract me. I'm also working on anger scenarios where he tries to distract me. I've also trained him to do a sweep of the front of the house and retrieve the morning paper as well LOL.

He has been a great asset while driving. He'll constantly run interference making me focus more on my task...driving.

For the fun of it I have taught him the "crouch" command. Here he crouches and then will low crawl to me.

Now he never leaves my side. Which is comforting. It feels good to have a friend.

Hey... You probably already know it... Just came across story-boarding today. Essentially you read your pup your list of f*cked up shit that kicks you into a state. So they get the scent of it (and fine cues), and you get practice blunting it that going over it gives.

<grin> That's really awesome Grizz. :D

How are people taking him as you're out & about?

Thought I had replied. Been out of it. Work has been taking it well. As know one knows.:ROFLMAO:

. Currenly working on something similar.

Wanted to update my move with my service dog. Today I met a milestone. Dog has passed public access and I have the credentials as a service dog by a professional trainer. I was asked to direct him to perform his tasks. For me it's retrieve medication, turn on lights and perform a room clear. He did all except turn the lights on properly. He hit the wall plate but couldn't nose the switch. I'm still working on this. These were my tasks necessary for the dog. He also performs a "cover" when I give the command to watch my back.

I'm really not doing anything with this. I'd like to take him to work but won't. I don't plan on going to a restaraunt with the dog or challenge any other public access or housing requirement.

This has been more of my test patience and establishing goals for myself. It's been life changing. Plus you get an extraordinary battle buddy out of the deal.

f*ckinA! :D Congratulations!!!

Meh. Plans change. Usually on the fly. You need the SD cred on short notice in the future? You got it in reserve. Smart move.
