Is committing myself selfish?

My wife recently had back surgery. I'm having a hard time, as I fought to get her surgery. When our son assaulted me she denied me care, didn't want him arrested. Would committing myself be selfish? When she was in hospital her little dog ran off, I didn't get leash on him. Since then I've looked all over and checked pounds, Facebook groups, no luck. I'm really not coping.

I don't know how to care for her and my service dog in training, if I can't control my current overload.

If going inpatient is an option for you, there's no shame in using it. It is simply a part of the continuum of care along with therapy and medication.

Told therapist I was suicidal with plans and she said shed see me in two weeks for half hour session.

Wow, that just seems irresponsible of your therapist. Did she direct you to a crisis line or the ER?

Taking care of yourself is never IMHO selfish when it's something we need (need, not just want).

Do you mean pills to O/D or pills for health @Raj ? If meds are for health and working I'd expect they'd help you be more functional?

So scorekeeping brought you to this point? How about focusing on the present and not score keeping while balancing your own needs?

To me you're running a deficit, and the pie in the sky would be balance... but clearly your not balanced, but no committing yourself would not be selfish. Why you even thinkin' that though?

Check her into a nursing facility, first. If that's beyond you? Take both of you to the hospital.
