Chat, check-in, and hang out

I'm sorry I'm not on here much lately. I'm a little anxious at the moment. @Invisible Fire I'm sorry I haven't talked to much. Things have me overwhelmed with my dog. He is getting old. One day he is a spring chicken and the next he barely moves. They found a lump on his leg he needs to go back and get xrayed next Tuesday to see if its cancer or not. I woke up from a nightmare this morning and I was shaking. So we talked about it in therapy today. I was playing it off like I normally do and all of a sudden I burst into tears. It felt good in that moment to cry and have my therapists support but now I'm sitting down finally after running around town after therapy and I just want to bawl again.
I'm sorry you are having a rough time. I haven't been on the past couple days either. Alot going on at the moment. I hope you feel better after therapy today.

Gosh there's a lot of chat to catch up on! That's great.

I will share this resource which has been recently shared with me. I find the anchoring ones quite grounding.

Hello @woodsy1 this is how I build up social interaction online. I play with people. I dance with them (by putting up virtual disco balls and putting the url in of what song I am dancing to), and I also reorganise the virtual chat room and put out chairs, baked goods and drinks so we can pretend we are being together online. It can be a lot of fun and it's a nice way to include folks.

I might give a shout out say @Teasel thanks for the resource! And a hello to @brat17 who said they wanted to be involved in the chat room. I try to engage with, in a positives manner with as many folks as possible to build up community online.

Have you considered starting a Trauma Diary? If not, let me enthusiastically and wholeheartedly recommend you give one a shot! 😃

People use Trauma Diaries in many different ways, it’s your own personal space to use as you need best, and seeking support from others? Is one of the most often used aspects of them.

There are 3 forums for Trauma Diaries, with different levels of privacy catered.

Trauma Diaries - Anyone can read/respond
Trauma Diaries (Members) - Only registered members can read/respond and is NOT indexed by search engines.
Trauma Diary (Private) - Only yourself & Admins can read/respond (not the diary to use when seeking interaction with others).

Trauma Diaries are not only a great place to receive support, but they also keep all your stuff in one place which makes it easier to find & refer back to, and see your own progression over time. Incrediably useful tools, on a whole heckuva lotta different levels.
Solid suggestions!

So @woodsy1 liking and commenting and responding to other posters builds up community spirit and includes more folks!

Reading some of the diaries and responding can be a way to make friends and build up community and social interactions.

I think you were talking about social interactions @Teasel so perhaps the chat room could be of use to you in doing that. With Covid19 we all need to get our social connectedness any way we can.

I was meaning to reply to your thread @woodsy1 but I was tardy.

Another thing that you can do (I haven't done it for a long time but I am considering beginning again). You can go and check out folks Birthdays https://www.myptsd.com/members/ and put a Birthday Greeting on their Profile Page or in chat! It's a nice way to get to know folks and for some folks it might be the only Birthday wishes they get so it's a meaningful thing to do!
