Been done a treat tonight. Popped out for a smoke (tobacco, being good), huge one went off, which felt as if it was next to me. I actually took a slight knee!

Another reason to quit I guess.

I'm in a real built up area and probably the only one who didn't buy fireworks tonight haha. Thank f*ck Masterchef is on TV, always good to chill out to :-B

I guess it's Top Chef here and I have really got into cooking. It is a geat release from all the other crap that is on TV. Never thought I would like cooking at all. 'Course the wife does the dishes....

As to fireworks I can usually take them if there are no surprises. I have to be far enough away not to hear the rockets first ignite. It does sound like an RPG. And the smoke afterwards doesn't smell like the cordite I smelled. Smell has the most acute memory since it does not go through processing (the optic chiasma) to the brain. Sometimes that's good; sometimes it's bad. I just try to stay focused and play along when fireworks happen. My wife is Chinese so fireworks are a big part of life when we go to China. Weddings, funerals, parades, even good bowel movements. Honest. Fortunately, the firecrackers are nothing like a rifle or grenade. But they do make you wary.

Yeah cooking is now a small hobby for me.

All I can think about is the bowel movement part, culture is fantastic.

Don't have a lot of fireworks here, lots of hunters so lots of gunshots, does anyone else jump just hearing stuff set on a hard surface? It depends on the day but most of the time I jump out of my skin and then I'm so pissed cause I was startled I can't calm down for awhile.

Yeah, we have laminate flooring downstairs, anything remotely hard that hits it, I usually take a second to place my heart back in my thoracic cavity! :eek:

When I liveed in Spain as a kid, they sold under the counter because of Franco's Guardia Civil, what were called "bombas" or bombs.

They were a little black powder with phosphrous and small rocks wrapped in paper and sealed with a cord. We bought them at one store where the owner looked left and right before he brought them out.

Made a helluva noise when you threw them against anything hard. Smoke. Gunpowder smell.

Outlawed in Arizona. But the Mex bring em up and sell them to idiots that don't give a crap about the law. The various cities put on a great display that should satisfy everyone. But still we have the idiots. I say to hell with it and call the Sheriff Always thought it would be cool to have a 7.62 mm mini loaded with blanks, drive over to where they're shooting them off, roll down the window and cut loose.

Wouldn't be clean underwear for blocks. To show you how dry it is in Arizona, my neighbor was mowing his vacant lot and hit a rock, he kept going with a trail of fire behind him. I had to yell at him to warn him and called the fire department. We had it pretty much under control when they got there but it scared the hell out of both of us as it could have easily burned down the house next to the lot.

We're doing better with the drought. This year we got the average rainfall instead of way below it. If we can keep going and get plenty of snow this year, it'll really help.

Arizona and fireworks don't mix.

Sigh..........Full-on Brigade assault going on out there tonight, too many of those fire-fight-sounding buggers. Couple of Whoomps too, is it me or are they sounding more like bad shit recently? Good thing is it doesn't bother me the way it used to, just feel totally outside of it.

I remembered at hull war memorial. No fireworks. Just stood with my back to house of Frazer so there was nowt behind me.

Then beer was drunk.
