Very nice bottle of wine. All proceeds to HfH and RBL. We do it every year on Remembrance Sunday. Used an 1898 Long Lee (.303) with black-powder cartridges. Then you have to boil out the barrel! The good bit is washing the fired cases in the sink, stinks the house out.....

Edit: To be a bit more thoughtful, it brings it home in a way. First there's the rapid-fire range detail, then a quiet little Remembrance bit, right on the firing point. Today was bright, crisp November sunshine, clear blue sky. Bit like ones in the past, in other places. And I did remember, and it felt right.

Yesterday was Sally Army and RBL service. small and mostly quiet, just as I like it, Piper and Bugler.

Today at 11:00 I was at a small Memorial for a Downed USAF B17 from WW2, She was hit by AA on her home run back to England she crash landed and all 10 onboard died on the outskirts of the town,

Had my 2 min, Ode and laid a poppy on the memorial for them,

Gone but not forgotten.

I kind of hope some stranger would do it for me, if the tables were turned.

The Germans out here don`t realy do anything along these lines and most certainly not to the size and effort that we do. Sunday 17th is Volkstrauertag, their version of Remembrence

We (Local RBL Branch) will visit a local Memorial and lay a wreath aswell, they (the Germans) find it amazing that we make the effort for their dead and fallen aswell! T

When I first came to Arizona, there were still some Native Americans living in "Hogans", a traditional, roundish, small structure with the opening, as usual to the east. Apparently, one family had several military in their family on a small plot not far from the structure. Well, modern day and there's three bedroom ranch styles everywhere and the family moved away. One Navajo in our group took it upon himself to care for the abandoned graves. His money, his time, his honor.

Teaches one of the priceless lessons we are given in this life.
