How To Say Thank You?

The end of an era, adios weekly therapy. Five years in the making...,,

I got T a card and can't seem to think of anything to put inside of it. I've thanked him a hundred times, but nothing seems like enough. I'm. It gooey or mushy.

Can you think of something he once said that has really stuck with you? Basically, giving him a specific thank you for a really excellent moment of therapy?

I like @joeylittle's suggestion. Similarly, perhaps you could identify something about where/how you are now that would never have been possible without working with him? So, something specific that demonstrates how much your work together has impacted on you/your life (for the better!)

Or could you find a quote that encapsulates and expresses how you feel/the progress you've made/his impact?

When it comes to it though, if all you write is something about how thankful you are and you don't feel that sounds like enough to say to reflect all that he has done and what he has meant, but you don't have any other words that do feel enough...well...I think that will speak volumes and he will be able to feel the depth of your feelings in that.

I think all that matters is that you write something true.

I wrote my T a card when I finished a course of CBT last year. For me it was a way to really express how grateful I was. That could well be different for you as I only saw mine for a couple of months, but I could be fairly withheld in the sessions so I was glad to the opportunity to be able to let her know the impact it had had. I highlighted the biggest change that had occurred and let her know that she had done that and that I would keep drawing on it in the future. It took a few attempts but I think I got the balance between gushing and grateful.

Like the others have said, if it's true you can't go wrong.
