I am hoping the winds do die down to help the firefighters. I also hope they bring the water carrying planes to help out too. I only could find one news story reporting on the fires and since power is out in some areas, and cell phones are down due to falling trees, I have lost contact with my friend and am waiting to hear from her. I guess this is very fast moving fires. Thanks to anyone that has access to what is going on with the fires right now.

I'm seeing lots stories. They expanded the evacuation route to everyone north of Guerneville road. It is bad. The news said worst fire in CA history. What is going on these days??? Seems we don't have time to get over one disaster before another one hits.

I just arrived home from work and have read a few reports and agree with @Buttercup -- it is bad. While the wind has cleared the air here, it's wreaking having up north. The marine mammal center, where I volunteer, has reported that "very, very high levels of fine particulates in the air".

I've only now seen footage on our news over here, they have been slow to mention it and only mentioned briefly, it looks horrendous .. my thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved..

I just read this morning that 10 people have died from these fires. The destruction is devastating.... stay safe everyone...

Now there has been an earthquake in Northern California - Earthquake, magnitude 4.1, rattles South Bay – The Mercury News

In addition to the 10+ that have died, looks like over a 100 are missing and over 1,500 structures burned... yikes!

We received an alert yesterday afternoon to stay indoors with windows and doors closed due to dangerous air quality. Of course it was 80 degrees and most people here do not have AC, myself included. This is obviously nothing compared to what is happening in the north bay. The air is more breathable this morning. Many of these fires, remain un-contained.

Large enough to inspire a panic attack for this Californian! Fortunately I didn't feel it. Although the little ones tend to come in clusters so it's definitely on my radar. Yay!!

Now there are some intense fires outside of LA and ash falling in that city...

It's really been one major natural disaster or national tragedy after another lately.
