General Rough Week For U.s. Vets

:hug: to all. I know it's not an easy thing.

Earlier I read a thread where someone explained how rough Veterans Day is. (Put in the perspective of rape.) I then realized just how bad it can be for vets----to be bombarded with Veterans Day stuff from all angles. I'm kind of disgusted that it's not as much a holiday of respect anymore as it is a holiday to have a sale. Veterans Day is now about saving a few bucks? It just doesn't seem right.

In the part of the country where I live, it's still somewhat a big deal. Most of the schools have programs of some sort etc. But, yeah, it kind of annoys me that it doesn't get to stay more on topic.

There should be hazard pay & mandatory R&R & martinis poolside (hot chocolate or coffee nudge in the lodge) flat out required.

Agreed. I didn't know until I lost a family member and until I joined here how bad it is. That and memorial day. Yet the retailer's just need an excuse. But at least some honor them with free stuff.our zoo offered them and their families free admission yesterday and half off food. Sadly not many took up on it..

Took off work to be with my vet SO for Veteran's Day. He had a good day and a good weekend -- I was surprised. Hope all other supporters and SO's are okay after the weekend too.

I think the sales are weird, but I think the vet-specific deals and freebies are nice. It's an excuse for my veteran SO and his veteran family members to go out to eat together, even if it is only because it is free. To spend time with loved ones/like minded people on an otherwise wonky day.
