I'm going to leave that to an American woman to answer but I suspect the answer is no... :hilarious: Why do you ask?

I ask because of Januhairy. Have you heard of that? It is supposed to be American women letting their axillary hair, pubic hair and hair on the legs grow to show they do not agree with the taboo. Did I get that wrong?
Hair on the legs and axillary hair is a bit of a taboo here too.

That whole movement as far as I understand it was created as a positivity thing, so people feel better about which ever their choices, not a Must Do either way.
Not that not shaving would be a taboo itself, more like not looked kindly upon and not preferable? Less prescriptivist, more about destigmatizing and just so people are not that worried about their hair (or lack of.)

Waxing is a trend for some but not a thing everyone does. Some do a bikini wax - which is just removing anything that would show if you are wearing a bikini. Others do a whole removal thing that makes you look like a 10 year old who hasn't hit puberty yet.

and the janhairy thing? I've never heard of that.

Never heard of Januhairy. I know quite a few women who don’t shave their legs. A few don’t shave their armpits but legs unshaved is pretty common.

Frankly I find the fashion trend that women should have no body hair pretty disturbing. Quite apart from the incredibly useful function, health-preservation quality of pubic hair.

To me? Only little kids have no pubic hair. So what’s up with the ‘trend’ that somehow links ‘sexiness’ to having no body hair? Screw that. That’s messed up.

My American daughter was quite familiar with Januhairy. She informs me that she supports it, but thinks all women should get to decide for themselves if and when they shave any part of their body, and any shaving should be for a woman's own satisfaction. Her dad is glad she feels that way.

This is hilarious. There is actually a movement now about whether women shave, wax their extra's??? I never knew but if it is a trend it hasn't got too far.

Over here we call a wax job where you take off the lot a 'Brazilian' and I don't even know why it's called that!

I know a couple of people that were silly enough to do it and aside from incredible pain (wax) it all regrows and as far as I know it did not improve their life one little bit! Nobody made or expected them to do it btw.

I guess there is a cause for all things.

There are real ppl who 'advise' other seriously stupid ppl about the benefits and ways of dealing with their inboxes... I thought it was a prank but no.. now we have ppl stressed about hitting the delete button in their email boxes. :wtf:

a 'Brazilian' and I don't even know why it's called that!

The thong / string bikini bathing suits popular in Brazil (generally shocked Americans white in the 80s/90s & was all over our media when this waxing became popular) required removal of anus & labial hair. Because both were in full view. Of everyone. Brazilian bathing suits were outlawed in several beach cities up here, including a few I lived in, citing indecent exposure. Even though the post cards were super popular they had to be sold behind “decency screens” like playboys, rather than in the racks with the rest of the cards. The 80s & 90s were decades with a lot of pushback against the free-love movement of the 60s & 70s. We got extra prudish / devils music is corrupting our youth! / nudity is eeeeeevil / blah blah blah. The suits never really caught on, but the waxing did.

Spoiler: When I’m grossed out I’m not shy about saying exactly why, I WILL decency screen it ;) Sometimes. Like now.

I’m not a fan of facial hair, though, beyond a bit of sexy scruff. It is the extremely rare man who doesn’t reek -from 10 feet away- of everything they’ve eaten for the past week. And being within kissing distance is nauseating. They smell like unlcleaned garbage disposals with bits of decaying rotting food swimming in oil and gunk (occasionally mixed with pussy juice), and morning breath from the drool that soaked them during the night. All of which is before we start talking about smokers, drinkers, pukers. I’ve known bums with better hygiene than most otherwise clean men with beards... and it takes being dead or gangrenous or gut shot to smell worse. But my sense of smell I guess is more acute than most? IDFK. 99% of men with facial hair are just plain unsat & Nasty. :sick:

Both my dad & godfather have mustaches, and thank freaking gawd they’re part of the 1% that wash them several times a day! 2 of my fav men of all time... but they wouldn’t hear the end of it if they started slacking. Well. They might hear the scissors and buzzers whilst they slept. But by then it would be too late :p

* (Revenge) Especially as women who shave and wax aren’t usually well versed in keeping urine soaked lint mixed with vaginal secretions from flocking their fun parts (it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmaaaaaas ), or how BO soaks into the hairs if they don’t use deodorant, and other basic beaver hygiene the fur bikini crowd doesn’t think twice about because it’s second nature to keep the hair clean. Urine & BO soaked linty hair. Chow down boys! Mmmmm. :sick:

Oh @Friday, yuck! No need to be that graphic ?. I never thought that men with bears are smelly but maybe my nose isn’t very good.
I want my guy to have beard (and long hair and a man bun??) but he refuses for the very same reasons. So I have to keep watching documentaries about the early Germanic tribes??... *cough* They look so hot with their man buns and beards and braids and braided beards... did you know that Germanic vets had the habit of braiding their beards a certain way as a sign they were a vet?
