What Did You Eat And Drink Last?

I can't tolerate caffeine either, gives me migraines. Can't even have cuppa tea, not even decaf very often, as I have to limit dairy an all. I have a proper cuppa tea about twice a year

Lunch ~
Ham Salad Sandwich
Onion Rings
Caffeine free diet coke

This looks weird (my submissions/posts) but truth be told breakfast foods are really really bad fo...

I used to regularly consume eggs, sausage, bacon, butter, some style of bread product (bagel, toast, muffin, pancake, etc.)and dairy....not all at once and not for each and every breakfast.....but pretty damn often, especially on the run as it was handed to me through my car window, and most often served on a big fat biscuit with an incredibly greasy side of hash browns of some sort.

I thought my friend who helped with my plant-based lifestyle changes was nuts when she suggested not eating after 8pm and then not eating solid food again until lunch time or later. I was sure I'd die of starvation at some point based on how I'd been taught to eat previously. lol But, look!! I made it!!! Hahahaha!

Big breakfasts have always been rather aggressively taught in my life by various authority and academic figures and such as being the main fuel source for the day and I was often reminded that I couldn't afford an empty tank. So I'd shovel it in like the good little consumer I was taught to be.

But once I became more readily aware of my rapidly increasing symptoms after paying much closer attention to what I was consuming and using on and around my being, I began to notice that not too long after breakfast (and pretty much every meal) I felt like I needed a nap, and was always really hungry again well before the next snack or meal.

Learning about what those belly growls really were that I had always assumed were simply "hunger pangs" indicating I better hurry up and eat something was quite an eye opener, too.

It took a while to get used to it, as does any drastic change, and it was anything but easy, but it sure changed the flow of energy within my days once I finally figured it out based on my particular needs. It changed the flow of how well things are eliminated, too, with the initial process being rather active, to say the least. lol Even the elimination processes have become more pleasant. Who knew?

Break-fast upon my rising is now all about initial nurturing hydration (juices, smoothies, lemon water, herbal infusions, filtered water, greatorade), unlike what I used to consider hydration (coffee, teas, sodas, milk, energy drinks, gatorade), and then around 11ish or later, I'll have either a large portion of a favorite fruit, a couple bananas on some romaine lettuce "boats" with some nut butter drizzled with a little date syrup, some frozen banana nice cream, foraged berries and other fruits during the seasons, once in a while some g/f oatmeal made with almond milk and fruit, etc.

I stay full much longer now and don't require as many snacks. Unless it's a day I've been repeatedly bombarded and triggered by what tempts me the most from my past and that my taste buds remain attached to. It ain't easy no longer being cheesey, I tell ya'. lol But most things can be tastily "veganized", so it's still all good, just not nearly as convenient. Dammit. lol

@Tornadic Thoughts - Thanks for share so much good information and revving up my desire to go buy more veges. I would also like to try the gluten free pasta. Is there a particular brand that you find tastes best? My only other thought is to try spaghetti squash again. I think I might have a gluten sensitivity as I tend to blow up after eating whole grain toast, so am looking at options for replacing grains. Then again, a lot of other things tend to do that as well. Elimination diet time.

I'm joining you this morning with filtered water for breakfast. Cheers! :D

I don't remember the specific brand names, but I buy it at Aldi's and Kroger, but only at Kroger if Aldi's is sold out, or if I specifically want elbow macaroni. You have to watch Kroger, though, as the gluten free options are often sold in a box the same exact size as the larger 16 oz. one, but it only contains 12 oz. worth of actual pasta - and of course it costs more than double the regular stuff, so I just wait for sales. Bastards. I've called and expressed myself multiple times. (Aldi's also has a decent g/f multi-grain bread option - some I've tried are less than appetizing)

Spaghetti squash rocks my world!! I love that stuff, and we've had good luck growing it, too, fortunately, as it can be pricey when not on sale.

The spiral slicer and zucchini "zoodles" are another favorite pasta option for us. Zucchinis grow like crazy and many folks who garden are often trying like hell to get rid of them to keep up with the growth. lol There's a joke that many country folk don't bother locking their car doors until zucchini season rolls around. lol

Another substitute I would have never thought of back in the day is to process some cauliflower in a food processor and use it as a rice substitute. Takes a little getting used to, as did everything, but I love it as a spanish rice dish, then mix it with some walnut taco "meat" and stuff it in some little sweet peppers. Mmmmmmmmm.........good stuff!

I forgot to add that when cooking the gluten-free pastas, be sure to read the directions carefully as they often differ from what we're typically used to. Not by much, but those little details can make all the difference between a successful dish or getting pissed off and declaring the g/f stuff is crap. lol Took me a while to warm up to it.
