Massive fires in Napa and Sonoma counties burn structures, force evacuations, close hospitals

I read this morning about the fires in Napa, Sonoma, Marin, Mendocino, and Alameda Co that there was a massive and really uncontrolled burn.
Hope folks are ok.

Santa Rosa is an hour away from me, but the air is full of smoke and impossible to get away from...breathing this stuff in can't be good...

My friend is safe and ready to go and has some plan to leave and meet up with a family member.

@Rain I am so so glad to hear your friend is safe. This is very scary! Actually just learned there was a nearby grass fire in the hills around 3 am!

@ShikibuZ that is scary, do you also have the Santa Ana winds today? They are really kicking up around here today and I know this is spreading the sparks around.

They generally begin in the afternoon, but we are too far north for the Santa Ana.

Im still trying to understand CA and the winds here but Santa Ana seems to be MOSTLY a central and So Cal phenomenon. No. CA (Bay Area) get Diablo winds? Is that what was blowing last night?

Yes @desiderata310 , I'm pretty sure they were. I'm about 1.5 hours away and I can smell the smoke. It was blowing so fiercely last night I was thinking how stormy it felt. Didn't know about the fires. :(
