OMG this is hurting my heart. I can't even imagine how this feels to those of you directly or indirectly affected. I understand that SoCal is having issues of it's own. My US neighbours, my heart is with you.

The AQI is presently in the red, "Unhealthy: Everyone may begin to feel health effects..." Our school visit to the library was just canceled and we're all staying in. Struggling a bit with anxiety in front of the students!

Prayers for everyone up North including you, heavy smoke and the colored skies are scary and depressing and the ash coming down so heavy takes a toll. I hope that you guys are able to restful activities with the little ones today. I am surprised the school is still open.

I’m not serious when I say this, but shit, ever since Trump came into office it’s like Mother Nature got her painties in a twist and she’s letting it rip. Hurricanes, fire, earthquakes. And I won’t speak of the crazies with guns and killing. One of the worst few months on record I would think for disasters...

In July 2017, this was the second worst year in recorded history for the sheer number of natural disasters. It's been a stormy start to 2017 in the U.S., tying the 2nd-most natural disasters on record

I couldn't find any data on the current status compared with previous years but it does appear this has been a disaster filled year for the US.
