Has anyone taken Trazodone for sleep and nightmares? I've only been on it for 3 nights, but the nightmares seem worse. I'm staying asleep better and the nightmares aren't waking me, but I'm definitely still having them. Also today I got really dizzy and a little nauseous. Should I just give it more time? Call my doc?

Trazedone helps me sleep but has never helped me with nightmares. I don't believe it's supposed to. I know when I was seeing the psych nurse he recommended a different med for nightmares. It can take a bit to adjust and find the right dose. Can't really give you other advice. Talk to your doctor?

Trazodone helps hugely with my sleep.

I have seen other people here say that nightmares can worsen on it and become more vivid - thankfully, though I've had this with other meds, trazodone hasn't affected me this way (or it least if I am having more/worse nightmares, I'm not remembering them so much).

It is known possible side effect though.

Is the dizziness there all the time, or just when your moving say from sitting to standing? It can cause postural hypertension.

My flashbacks & nightmares not only got a f*ckload worse... I started acting them out. Totally unaware that I’m doing so, and with no memory of it. Fortunately, the very public spectical I made of myself was deemed “hilarious” so I didn’t get arrested, but from all accounts I got pretty violent. So it’s a complete non-starter for me.

I ended up not taking it last night and calling my dr. Waiting to hear back. Hopefully he has answers

Well. Dr said to stop taking the trazodone immediately. He did not offer any other suggestions but to make an appointment or wait until my next one to address the nightmares and sleep :(

Prazosin, Clonidine, or Propranolol are used for nightmares. I have used both Pazosin and Clonidine, and they worked well for me. I stopped taking Prazosin for awhile, then when I took it again I was allergic so I had to start Clonidine.

Vivid dreams are a known side effect. It doesn’t affect everyone the same way - but if your dreams are bad, that side effect sucks. I had that problem with it, and did much better on prazosin.
