What Did You Eat And Drink Last?

Lots of lemon water, burdock root/red clover/ginger infusion, a pint of apple juice, some local pears along with apples chopped into wedges and spritzed with lemon juice, then some red lettuce wraps filled with a little chickpea salad, red onion, celery slivers, carrot slivers, yellow and orange bell pepper slivers, arugula, and purple cabbage for lunch (mmmmm...eat the rainbow, baby!), and dinner's likely going to be a 'clean out the crisper drawers soup' of some sort with a tomato base served with some of my juice pulp flat bread of the rosemary/sage/thyme variety. My nightcaps as of late have been a warm infusion with a little pinch each of either some astragalus or valerian root or hops with some ginger/stinging nettle.

Well, I almost set off the smoke alarm. I get so easily distracted! I was cooking some squash when it occurred to me that the new medicine I am on might be causing this dizziness I am experiencing. So I went to drugs.com and checked it out, along with another med I just started recently, and they can both cause it.

Then I remembered I was cooking! Thankfully the squash was just browned a bit too much and had not burned yet. Close call!

I really have to be so careful when I cook. I forgot I was cooking for a bit there!

So I had some prunes, some whole grain crackers with humus and a hand full of peanuts. Oh! I forgot to drink something. Be right back.... a cup of Mango juice. Thanks for the reminder!

@SheilaKathy You might consider a toaster oven with a timer-cook.

You can cook a whole lot of different things in one (baked potatoes, mac'n'cheese, hot sandwiches, quesadillas, chicken strips/satay, pasta, curry, one pot stews, enchiladas, pot pies, etc.), but it will ONLY be hot for the time you input, and then shuts itself off and cools quickly. Like 5 minutes, quickly. Anything you could bake in an oven? Can be baked in a toaster-over on a cook-timer. Just smaller portions.

Similarly... Rice cookers are often on church-give-away lists (or they have one in their kitchen you can use once a month). Make a bunch, bag up the cooked rice in individual portions & freeze it. 30 seconds in the microwave, or mix into whatever you're baking in your toaster.

Coffee & a Cuban Sammie w/ extra Coleman's Mustard :smug: Happy Happy. Was seeeeeeriously craving mustard. OMFG. The mustard. Bliss. I shouldn't get this excited about mustard. But I do!

3 cheers for GreyPoupon & Colemans!!! <swoon>

I just saw both a toaster oven and a rice cooker today in my thrifting adventures today, @SheilaKathy . Great suggestion, @Friday ! Craigslist wanted section is a good place to put an ad for things you're looking for, too. Just be sure to ask for photos of what they have to offer and only meet in public locations for the exchange. I've found many treasures that would normally cost way more than I want to spend by using those routes. Happy seeking and eventually cooking more.
